Welcome to Higher Ground Baptist Church. When you enter our church you will feel as if you stepped back in time to the days of old fashioned preaching and a genuine company of believers. The days of old-time preaching and worship have become few and far between. However, our church is an oasis back to the bible. We are not a 21st century church but a 1st century church. You will find Higher Ground Baptist Church to be a great place to call home.

Our church began March 19th 2006 as a church plant (not a split). The Lord began working in our pastor’s heart over two years ago about starting this church. As people were called on to pray, he knew this was the will of God.

Our history is very exciting .We obtained our building on March 1st 2006. Emmanuel Baptist Church purchased our pews and gave us a pulpit and helped us build our sign and our platform. Our 1st service began with 52 people. We have had a great welcome from the people of Rutledge. In our first month we purchased a church bus and began supporting missionaries. We have some wonderful families who have joined our church. Our pastor is striving to reach the lost and strengthen the home. We preach the bible from cover to cover. We make no apologies for bible preaching. We are placing emphasis were the bible places emphasis. Our Sunday school classes teach the bible and shape our homes to be victorious. Come be apart of this great work. This church presents a clear picture of a New Testament church. We look forward to seeing you in one of services. We are located 2.5 miles east of the red light in Rutledge, Tennessee. Higher ground Baptist church is located about 25 miles from the following counties: Hawkins, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Claiborne, Union, and Hancock.
