The History of Higher Ground Baptist Church began in seed form while our pastor attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Morristown, TN. His Pastor ask him about starting a bible study in Rutledge, TN. As he began thinking and praying about this he felt in his heart that God wanted him to start a Bible believing Church in Rutledge .He wanted to see a church led by the spirit of Christ not man. He called on many people across the country to pray for the doors to open. It wasn’t very long until God opened the doors. On March 1st we signed a lease on a 3,000 square foot building. With help from Emmanuel Baptist they renovated the building into a Church that would seat up to 100 people. We had our very 1st service on March 19th @ 11am. For the pm service Emmanuel Baptist dismissed and came and joined us on our first day(what a great blessing we had that day.)

Please keep in mind we are a plant and not a split. Most churches now a days start with half a congregation from another Church we started with our pastor and his wife , children and a God that is able to do exceeding and abundantly what so ever we can ask or think.

In our first 6 months God has enabled us to see souls saved. We have started Bus ministry and we are sponsoring missionaries. We have seen many people receive help from the Lord. We have had some great services and some great people have joined our Church. We had a great bible school. Please pray for us.
